Hi I'm Joel 👋
I live and work in Leeds, where I tattoo at the Rose and Thorn.
I have seven years experience in tattooing people, following a two year traditional apprenticeship.
Before this I was a chef and a freelance illustrator, where I began to draw tattoo designs and fell in love with tattooing and its history. Over centuries it has celebrated what people love the most and been an accessible art form to everyone, regardless of class.
In recent years this has opened up more and I’m glad to be a part of that, everyone is welcome to get a tattoo regardless of gender, skin tone, body type or age (as long as you're over 18.)
I specialise in fineline and dotwork tattoos, particularly florals and botanicals, and old school designs inspired by the 70s and 80s prison and biker tattoos.
That said, I have a broad knowledge across various styles, and am primarily led by you, the client — so I’m happy to consider whatever style you would most like, and work with you to achieve that. Your tattoo needs to reflect you, and what you love the most.
